Kokonga Shed - Unframed
KOKONGA is a small town in Central Otago established during the 1890's as a railway settlement. It is located 25km South of Ranfurly or 30km North of Middlemarch on the Taieri River. This quaint town is close to the Otago Rail Trail and located at the base of the Rock and Pillar Range and the Kakanui Mountains.
The word Kokonga comes from the Maori language which means 'bending river' and once was a site of a river crossing used by miners to travel to nearby Naesby.
